Refund & Cancellation Policy

When an order can be cancelled, exactly what is refundable and what is not, how a refund is calculated, how long it takes, and how to claim one.

In one line. You are charged only for work actually done. Our own professional fee for work not yet done is refundable. Money we have already paid out to a government office on your behalf is not, because it is no longer with us.

1. The principle we follow

Every amount you pay us falls into one of two buckets, and they are treated differently:

BucketWhat it isRefundable?
Our professional fee What you pay us for our own work — advising on the process, preparing and checking documents, filing, following up and coordinating. Yes, in proportion to work not yet done.
Pass-through charges Government fees, court fees, stamp duty, registration charges, notary charges, challan payments, photographs, courier and any amount paid to a third party on your instructions. No, once actually paid out.

We keep the two separate on every receipt, so you can always see which is which.

2. Cancelling before work starts

If you cancel before we have begun work, you receive a full refund of our professional fee, with no deduction. Nothing is charged for an enquiry, a quotation, or a call about what a process involves — those are free.

3. Cancelling after work has started

If work has started, you are charged only for the stage actually completed, and the balance of our professional fee is refunded. We tell you in writing which stage had been reached and how the figure was arrived at.

Stage reached when you cancelOur fee retained
Order confirmed, nothing done yetNil — full refund of our fee.
Documents collected and checkedUp to 25% of our fee.
Forms prepared, appointment or date arrangedUp to 50% of our fee.
Application filed with the office or courtUp to 100% of our fee — the work is done. Government charges already paid are not refundable.
Work completed and outcome deliveredNo refund — but see Section 11 if you are not satisfied with the work itself.

These are the maximum figures. Where less work was actually done, less is retained.

4. What is never refundable

  • government fees, court fees, challan payments and statutory charges, once paid;
  • stamp duty and registration charges, once paid;
  • notary and attestation charges, once paid;
  • amounts paid on your instructions to any third party;
  • photographs, printing, courier and travel actually incurred;
  • payment gateway charges, which the gateway retains; and
  • any statutory tax already deposited with the government.

Wherever possible we tell you the amount of a pass-through charge before it is paid, so you can decide before the money becomes irrecoverable.

5. If we cannot do the work

If we accept an order and then find we cannot do it — because it is outside what we do, because a rule changed, or for any reason on our side — you receive a full refund of our professional fee, plus any pass-through amount we collected but had not yet paid out. We do this without you having to ask.

6. If a government office rejects or objects

A court or government office decides an application on its own view of the law and the papers. That decision is not ours to control, so a rejection is not by itself a deficiency in our service. What we undertake is this:

  • If the reason was our error — a wrong entry, a missing annexure we should have caught, a form filed in the wrong place — we correct and refile at no further professional fee, and we bear any re-filing charge caused by our error.
  • If the reason was outside our control — a document you could not produce, a changed requirement, a discretionary refusal, or an objection to the underlying facts — our fee for the work already done stands. We will explain the reason in writing and tell you what options remain, without charging again for the explanation.

7. Advocate consultations

A consultation request sent through this website is free. Where a consultation is fixed and a fee is payable, that fee belongs to the advocate, is payable to that advocate directly, and we neither collect it nor take any share in it. A refund of a consultation fee is therefore a matter between you and that advocate.

What we will do is help. If a consultation you had fixed does not take place, tell us and we will take it up with the advocate on your behalf and, if you wish, arrange another advocate. We ask that a consultation be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance so the slot can be given to somebody else.

8. When a refund is not available

  • where the work has been completed as agreed and delivered to you;
  • where the delay or failure was caused by information or a document you gave that turned out to be untrue, incomplete, altered or not yours to give;
  • where you did not provide a document, a signature or your attendance despite being asked, and a date was lost as a result;
  • where you became unreachable for more than 30 days after we asked you for something needed to move the matter forward; or
  • simply because of a change of mind after the work has been done.

Even in these cases, any pass-through money we still hold and have not paid out is returned to you.

9. How to claim a refund

  1. Write to us at info@legalspaceservices.in with the subject line "Refund request", or call +91 98913 43962.
  2. Give us your order number or receipt number, the date of payment, the amount, and one line on why you are asking.
  3. We acknowledge within 24 hours.
  4. We tell you our decision, with the calculation, within 7 working days.
  5. If approved, the money is credited within 15 working days to the same account or instrument you paid from.

A refund is always made to the original payment method. We cannot send a refund to a different account, and we will never ask you for an OTP, a PIN or a card number to process one.

Refund fraud warning. No genuine refund ever requires you to install an app, share your screen, enter a UPI PIN, or "receive" money by approving a request. If anyone asks you to do that in our name, it is a fraud — stop and call us on the number above.

Questions

Common refund questions

Can I cancel after I have paid?
Yes. If we have not started work, you get a full refund of our professional fee. If work has started, you are charged only for the stage actually completed and the rest is refunded. Government fees, stamp duty, court fees and notary charges that have already been paid out on your behalf cannot be refunded, because that money has left our hands.
What is not refundable?
Government fees, court fees, stamp duty, registration charges, notary charges, challan payments and any amount already paid to a third party on your instructions. Payment gateway charges are also not recoverable. Everything else — our own professional fee for work not yet done — is refundable.
How long does a refund take?
We decide a refund request within 7 working days of receiving it and the money is credited within 15 working days of approval, to the same account you paid from. Your bank may take a few days more to show it.
What if the government rejects my application?
If it was rejected because of an error on our side, we correct and refile at no further professional fee. If it was rejected for a reason outside our control — a missing document you could not produce, a change in the office's requirement, or a decision that is the authority's to make — our fee for work already done stands, but we do not charge again to try a second route.
